December - Turquoise

December was the 10th month of the old Roman calendar, named after decem, Latin for 10 and Decima the middle goddess of the three fates. In Asatru, the Gregorian month of December is known as Wolf Moon. December is a month of joy, celebrations and rebirth.
Turquoise is the modern December birthstone and the accepted gem for the fifth and eleventh wedding anniversaries. Turquoise is known for it’s healing properties and has been worn proudly by kings and warriors for centuries as protection in battle. Turquoise promotes lasting friendship and commitment to a relationship.
Admired since ancient times, turquoise is known for its distinct color, which ranges from powdery blue to greenish robin’s egg blue. It’s one of few minerals to lend its name to anything that resembles its striking color.
